L'arrivo dell'estate segna l'inizio della stagione espositiva di Dep Art Out a Ceglie Messapica, sede estiva dalla Dep Art Gallery di Milano. La stagione sarà inaugurata il 4 luglio con un evento speciale dedicato all'artista tedesca Regine Schumann, che sarà in conversazione con il critico d'arte, storico e curatore Carmelo Cipriani, dalle ore 19 alle ore 21.
Dep Art Out è un luogo fuori dall’ordinario dove l'arte si manifesta in modo innovativo. Il trullo, icona della Puglia riconosciuta in tutto il mondo, diventa uno spazio espositivo stra-ordinario, immerso nelle campagne tra Ceglie Messapica e Martina Franca.
In occasione dell'inaugurazione, in dialogo con gli spazi del trullo, Regine Schumann presenterà due sculture in plexiglass acrilico fluorescente. Questa installazione ambientale creerà un dialogo tra gli effetti luminosi caratteristici delle opere di Schumann e l'architettura tradizionale pugliese.
Nel suo lavoro, Regine Schumann esplora gli effetti della luce e da materiali fluorescenti. Utilizzando lastre acriliche semi-trasparenti, di diversi colori, creando complessi spazi cromatici in accordo con la teoria dei colori di Goethe. L'artista impiega anche la luce nera per arricchire la sua tavolozza cromatica.
Riguardo al suo metodo di lavoro, Schumann afferma: 'Il vetro acrilico colorato e fluorescente svolge un ruolo fondamentale nel mio lavoro. Questo materiale si illumina quando viene esposto alla luce, sia naturale che artificiale. Le lastre acriliche di diversi colori cambiano aspetto a seconda dell'angolazione e dell'intensità della luce'."
Regine Schumann si è formata presso la Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig (1982-1989). Nel 1989 è ammessa a frequentare il master di Roland Dörfler. Dal 1986 al 1994 è stata membro del gruppo artistico Freiraum, costituito insieme a Frank Fuhrmann, Dieter Hinz. Oltre a numerose borse di studio (tra cui una borsa di studio DAAD per l'Italia nel 1990 e una sovvenzione dello stato della Renania Settentrionale-Vestfalia per il Giappone nel 2000) e commissioni per opere d'arte pubbliche, ha ricevuto il Premio Leo Breuer nel 2006. Regine Schumann vive e lavora a Colonia, in Germania. In Italia è rappresentata da Dep Art Gallery di Milano.
Carmelo Cipriani è giornalista, critico d’arte e curatore indipendente. Già cultore della materia in Museologia presso l’Università degli Studi della Calabria, ha insegnato Storia e Metodologia della Critica d’Arte all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Lecce. Specializzato sull’arte meridionale otto-novecentesca e sulle ricerche contemporanee, ha condotto studi specialistici e curato mostre per Soprintendenze, Enti Locali e Musei. Dal 2011 al 2013 ha curato la rassegna nazionale di arti visive contemporanee “OPEN SPACE”, nella Galleria Nazionale di Cosenza. Nel 2018 ha curato la VI edizione del progetto di residenza d’artista “Apulia Land Art Festival”. È stato tra i curatori invitati al progetto MONET alla Fondazione Pino Pascali di Polignano a Mare. Dal 2010 porta avanti il progetto “Arte in Comune”, per la valorizzazione dei patrimoni latenti delle pubbliche amministrazioni. Lo stesso progetto è stato selezionato all’interno del bando pubblico “Arte e Spazio Pubblico”, iniziativa congiunta della Direzione Generale Creatività Contemporanea del MIC e della Fondazione Scuola dei beni e delle attività culturali. Numerose le pubblicazioni e le partecipazioni a convegni. È collaboratore stabile del Nuovo Quotidiano di Puglia e delle riviste di settore Segno ed Exibart. Vive e lavora a Bari.

The summer's arrival marks the beginning of the exhibition season at Dep Art Out in Ceglie Messapica, the summer location of Milan's Dep Art Gallery. The season will be inaugurated on July 4 with a special event dedicated to German artist Regine Schumann, who will be in conversation with art critic, historian, and curator Carmelo Cipriani from 7 to 9 p.m.
Dep Art Out is an out-of-the-ordinary place where art manifests itself in an innovative way. The trullo, an icon of Apulia recognized all over the world, becomes an extra-ordinary exhibition space, immersed in the countryside between Ceglie Messapica and Martina Franca.
At the opening, inside the spaces of the trullo, Regine Schumann will present two fluorescent acrylic plexiglass sculptures. This environmental installation will create a dialogue between the light effects characteristic of Schumann's works and traditional Apulian architecture.
In her work, Regine Schumann explores the effects of light and fluorescent materials. Using semi-transparent acrylic sheets of different colors, she creates complex color spaces in accordance with Goethe's color theory. The artist also employs black light to enrich her color palette.
Regarding her working method, Schumann says: 'Colored, fluorescent acrylic glass plays a fundamental role in my work. This material glows when exposed to light, whether natural or artificial. Acrylic sheets of different colors change their appearance depending on the angle and intensity of the light.'
Regine Schumann studied at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig (1982-1989). In 1989 she was admitted to attend Roland Dörfler's master's program. From 1986 to 1994 she was a member of the art group Freiraum, formed together with Frank Fuhrmann, Dieter Hinz. In addition to numerous grants (including a DAAD grant to Italy in 1990 and a grant from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia to Japan in 2000) and commissions for public artworks, she received the Leo Breuer Prize in 2006. Regine Schumann lives and works in Cologne, Germany. In Italy she is represented by Dep Art Gallery in Milan.
Carmelo Cipriani is a journalist, art critic and independent curator. Formerly a lecturer in Museology at the University of Calabria, he taught History and Methodology of Art Criticism at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lecce. Specializing in nineteenth- and twentieth-century southern art and contemporary research, he has conducted specialized studies and curated exhibitions for Superintendencies, Local Authorities and Museums. From 2011 to 2013, he curated the national exhibition of contemporary visual arts "OPEN SPACE," in the National Gallery of Cosenza. In 2018, he curated the 6th edition of the artist residency project "Apulia Land Art Festival." He was among the curators invited to the MONET project at the Fondazione Pino Pascali in Polignano a Mare. Since 2010 he has been carrying out the project "Arte in Comune," for the enhancement of the latent heritages of public administrations. The same project was selected within the public call "Art and Public Space," a joint initiative of the General Directorate of Contemporary Creativity of MIC and the Foundation School of Cultural Heritage and Activities. Numerous publications and participation in conferences. He is a regular contributor to Nuovo Quotidiano di Puglia and the trade magazines Segno and Exibart. He lives and works in Bari.
